November is American Diabetes Month.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 29 million people in the United States have diabetes.
NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Ryan Reed of Bakersfield is one of them.
Reed was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 17, but he didn’t let it slow him down. Instead, he faced the disease head-on, working closely with his doctor to manage his diabetes with the proper nutrition and treatment.
Reed is also the face of the “Drive to Stop Diabetes” campaign, which strives to empower those with diabetes to actively manage their disease so they, too, can enjoy life.
Roush Fenway Racing and Reed will support the cause in a variety of ways. Reed and all Roush Fenway Fords will carry a special C-Post decal all month long. In addition, the deck lid of Reed’s No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang will feature the words “This is the fast lane. #ThisIsDiabetes.”
