It’s baby season. That means, chances are, you’ll be going to–or hosting–a baby shower soon.
So California Life’s Audra Stafford went to entertaining and lifestyle expert (and mom!) Liza Utter (a.k.a. Liza America’s Host) for some tips, to make it a baby shower the special mom in your life will remember.
Liza says the most important thing to keep in mind is that the shower should be all about the mom-to-be. Keep it short, because at 8 or 9 months pregnant, she’s most likely uncomfortable and doesn’t want to be sitting up or entertaining for hours on end. It’s also important to plan the menu around her, because there are a lot of sights and smells that could turn her off.
When it comes to gifts, Liza says you want to give things that will make the new parents’ lives easier, like the Fresh Mommy meal delivery program from Freshology. The meals are prepared by hand and delivered daily in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, and twice a week everywhere else.
The Baby Bullet is another great gift idea. You can use it to make your own organic baby food (for a lot less money than buying it at the store) using fresh fruits and vegetables.
There are batch trays for freezing large amounts, and storage cups with date-dial lids, so that you know exactly when you made it, and if it’s still safe for your baby to eat. ”It just takes the thinking out of it, because we all know, as a new mom, you’re sleep-deprived, you’re tired, you don’t remember, so this takes the guessing out of it,” Liza said.
Another gift any new parent is sure to love–BuggyLove’s line of all-organic cleaning products. One of the highlights is the stroller cleaning kit, which includes a number of products, including an organic, all-over freshening mist, no-wash stain remover and a 100% natural stroller lubricant.
Couples’ showers have become more common, so Liza also recommends you keep the father in mind when you’re buying gifts.
One website that provides one-stop shopping for dads–DaddyScrubs.com. Their signature product, the “Daddy Scrubs” are perfect for the big day, but you can also find hats, t-shirts, mugs and other fun “daddy” items.
