Saturday, March 5th, 2011There’s no place hotter than Hollywood during Academy Awards week, and California Life was there to bring you all the action!
The most exciting place to be before, after and during the Oscars is on the red carpet outside the Kodak Theatre. In the days leading up to the big event, you’ll see the bleachers go up, the carpet rolled out and media from around the world buzzing with anticipation. Afterward, the decorations are whisked away like some sort of movie magic. And of course, during the Oscars, it’s the place to stargaze and play “fashion police,” as one-by-one, Hollywood’s finest make their way down the red carpet and into the Kodak Theatre.
But the excitement doesn’t end at Hollywood and Highland. There are also numerous Oscar parties and gift lounges! I stopped by the GBK Oscars Gift Lounge at the W Hotel in Hollywood, where stars picked up sunglasses from William Rast Eyeware’s new line (which isn’t even available to the public yet!), as well as premium diamond watches from Just Bling Watches and organic makeup, skincare and bath products from Neal’s Yard Remedies. Several California-based companies, like Bota Box (environmentally-friendly boxed wine from Napa) and TEI Spa (spa-quality beauty tools from Santa Monica) were also represented at the lounge.
During my visit, I spotted actress Nicole Ari Parker (The Deep End, Imagine That), actor Eddie Hassell (The Kids Are All Right), and Desperate Housewives star Teri
Hatcher (who is donating all of her gifts to her charity “Keep Memory Alive”).
