A few years ago, The United States Tennis Association – commonly known as USTA – came up with a very ambitious goal: to create and refurbish 3,000 tennis courts across the nation.
The project, also known as Court 3K, completed its 3,000th tennis court in Atlanta, Georgia. The Mayor of Atlanta, Kasim Reed, and renowned American Gold Medalist, Irina Falconi, even took part in the celebration.
“I think it’s good for the sport of tennis as the country becomes more diverse and communities become more diverse. We want people from all parts of our county to love tennis,” said Mayor Reed.
All courts were made to meet the USTA’s 10 and Under Tennis Initiative – to ensure children feel confident as soon as they pick up a racket to play while having fun.
