The Disney Dream Cruise Ship has hosted some of the most memorable Disney stars. However, some of the biggest stars aboard the Disney Dream are not very big at all.

Jeff Conover, the puppet designer for the Beauty and the Beast characters aboard the cruise ship, gave insight on how each puppet was created. These classic characters include Lumière, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip. These lovable, classic characters are part of what make this show so memorable.

Conover said minor modifications were made to each of the characters — facial features were made bigger to make the character that much more recognizable on stage. Yet, each puppet still retained the character design of what audiences are accustomed to seeing on the screen in the most recent “Beauty and the Beast” movie. Audiences of all ages will be captivated by how life-like these characters are.

“The films help us. There’s an expectation from the audience — they already are in love with these characters. The stage version we really take it to the next level. There’s an emotional connection that catches guests off guard,” Conover said.

Each performance aboard the Disney Dream Cruise Ship is magical, bringing classic tales to life. Seeing the “Beauty and the Beast” show is the perfect opportunity to experience one of Disney’s most recognizable movies live. However these authentic, immersive performances are only available on the Disney Dream Cruise Ship.
