Philanthropist and Oscar-winner Charlize Theron (Gringo,Monster, Atomic Blonde, Mad Max: Fury Road) joined Golden Globe-nominee David Oyelowo (Gringo, Selma, Queen of Katwe) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad, Pacific Rim & The Outpost) last night at The GEANCO Foundation’s annual Hollywood fundraiser at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills.

The evening not only celebrated International Day of the Girl, but also GEANCO’s David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, which provides tuition, medical care and professional psychological support to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality as well as GEANCO’s medical missions, which provide free joint replacements and minimally invasive surgeries to underprivileged Nigerians. Gringo co-stars Theron and Oyelowo joined GEANCO Foundation’s founder Afam Oynema for an intimate panel discussion in which the conversation ranged from Charlize’s childhood in South Africa to heavier topics around apartheid, femicide, and genocide in Africa, South Africa and across the globe.

Oyelowo highlighted how important it is to start the conversation at home and for parents to teach their young boys respect for women and equality for all genders. The star-studded event brought in philanthropic supporters such as Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll, Chicago Fire), Evan Ross (ATL, Hunger Games), Brian J. White (Stomp The Yard, Ambitions) and Matt Sallee & Kevin Olusola from the group Pentatonix to continue the conversation about gender inequality and to rally support for vulnerable women and children in Nigeria. Guests enjoyed a live Nigerian dance performance, a premium open bar, gourmet appetizers and exciting silent auction items such as a 3 night stay the new Nobu Los Cabo Hotel, dinner for 2 at West Hollywood hotspot Pacifique and an assortment of wine collector magnum bottles.
