How Z-Boys paved the way for one of nation’s fastest-growing sports

Skateboarding is one of the biggest and fastest-growing sports in the U.S. Although it dates back to the 1940s, it really began to gain momentum in the 1970s. That’s when a group of guys from Santa Monica formed the Zephyr skateboarding team (they would later become known as the “Z-Boys.”

In the story below, California Life’s Chad Rohn introduces us to the Z-Boys, and tells us how the rowdy group of teenagers became skateboarding legends.
