Historic Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah, offering an attractive option for visitors headed to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, has opened for its 2020 season on June 15 with limited capacity.

Iron Horse Restaurant and Saloon located at Parry Lodge will open on June 16, Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday. On the menu, the restaurant offers barbecue, steaks, and seafood in a family-friendly environment. The western-themed Kanab destination also offers the only full-service bar in Kane County.

Also open is the Forever Adventure Tours, the Kanab-based sightseeing tour company, that offers six different hummer tours in Southern Utah. Tour guides will take sightseers to scenic spots in the area such as Peekaboo Slot Canyon, The Wave, White Pockets and more.

Located just 35 minutes from Zion National Park and 90 minutes from the Grand Canyon’s less-traveled North Rim, Kanab’s picturesque Parry Lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guests staying at the property can enjoy leisurely drives to several of Utah’s most revered national parks and monuments, including not only Zion but also Bryce Canyon, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell), Grand Staircase and Pipe Springs National Monument. Situated in the heart of downtown Kanab, Parry Lodge offers quaint, comfortable accommodations in the center of it all.

To comply with current public health guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), state, and local public health authorities, the lodge will open with certain operational changes, including a complimentary, pre-packaged to-go breakfast. Parry Lodge is also sanitizing each room and opening windows to air the rooms where available. In addition, staff will no longer share living quarters and will be housed separately in observance of social distancing mandates. Additional services and facilities may be phased in as the season progresses.

“Our company has always adhered to the highest standards and we are continually monitoring new health developments to ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees,” said John Schoppmann, executive vice president, Forever Resorts, the company that owns Parry Lodge. “We have enhanced our cleanliness and sanitation standards to follow the latest recommendations.”

In addition to using cleaning and sanitizing chemicals recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the lodge has implemented the following supplemental standard operating procedures:

  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing frequency for all public and staff areas.
  • Sanitizing stations located throughout the property for employee and guest use and are checked frequently.
  • Public touchpoints such as doorknobs, railings, and faucets are cleaned and sanitized multiple times throughout the day.
  • Public surfaces such as counters and bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
  • All guest room surfaces are sanitized thoroughly prior to new guest arrivals.
  • Increased staff training and awareness regarding maintaining cleanliness and hygiene as related to current public health considerations.
