Did you know that over half of all marriages now end in divorce? And that even more of these marriages are described as unfulfilling or unhappy? Not only do these alarming statistics effect the couple, but they take a toll on the children as well.
The Washington DC based family research council states that a, “large and still growing body of research shows that children do best when raised by their own biological mother and father who are committed to one another in a lifelong marriage, and that adults also thrive when in such a marriage.”
Even though these factors are proven to be true, 50% of single moms still receive no child support while their children do not see their fathers on a regular basis.
The famous wedding vow “for better or for worse” just doesn’t seem to mean as much as it used to. Often times, the worse ends up overshadowing the better.
That’s why Pastor Bob Botsford of Horizon Christian Fellowship Church wrote For Better – a 30 day devotional aimed at getting not just marriages, but whole families back on track. The text consists of day-by-day readings for spouses, moms, dads and even kids.
Botsford says that it takes about 30 days to form a habit, so this month-long format allows readers to engage in material that focuses on marriage and family issues in a way that generates healthy regularities.
All proceeds raised will go towards oversea missions. You can get a copy of the book online at www.horizon.org or at the Horizon Book Store in Rancho Santa Fe. To learn more about For Better watch the full segment below.
