“Drive to Stop Diabetes” with NASCAR’s Ryan Reed

More than half of all NASCAR fans is at risk for, or has, diabetes.

Roush Fenway’s Ryan Reed of Bakersfield is also battling the disease.

Reed was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 17, but he didn’t let it slow him down. Instead, he faced the disease head-on, working closely with his doctor to manage his diabetes with the proper nutrition and treatment.

He’s also working with Lilly Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association on the “Drive to Stop Diabetes” campaign, which strives to empower those with diabetes to actively manage their disease so they, too, can enjoy life.

To learn more about the campaign, check out our story below, airing statewide this week on California Life.
