New Tool to Help Those Dealing with Diabetes

UnknownA new survey by the International Food Information Council Foundation shows 57% of Americans rate their own health as very good or excellent, even though 55% of that group is either overweight or obese.

So it’s no wonder tens of millions of Americans are living with serious health issues, including diabetes.

Diabetes is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal, and according to the American Diabetes Association, it causes more deaths each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined.

Dealing with diabetes is a daily challenge. It requires continual blood sugar monitoring, meal planning, exercise, stress management and in many cases, medicines, such as pills and/or insulin injections.

Fortunately, for those who must rely on resource.aspxinjections, but hate needles, there’s a new tool. The BD AutoShield Duo Safety Pen Needle‘s patented dual shields are designed to keep the needle from being exposed, to avoid accidental sticks during injection and disposal.

Having a good support system is also key. The American Diabetes Association‘s website offers a number of resources available to those living with diabetes. There’s also a Diabetes Innovations US Facebook page, which includes ways to simplify life with diabetes, including tips from diabetes educators.
