Visit Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe, CA: California Life had a wonderful stay in South Lake Tahoe this January.

Our host Heather Dawson‘s three daughters [left to right]: Evangeline (15), Elise (20), and Ava (18).

To move from place to place, you need transportation in Tahoe that can handle the snow. We took advantage of the Lake Link app!

California Life stayed at Forest Suites Resort, and enjoyed a magical, charming stay at their individual rooms which felt more like personal cabins.

Forest Suites provided a complimentary basket, two large rooms, and tons of living space for ski gear.

Kickstart your stay in the winter wonderland with ice skating in Heavenly Village. There’s a lit-up ice rink in the center of the village, fun for all ages.

We headed up to Heavenly Gondola at the Heavenly Village just to ski on the Heavenly Mountain Resort. It’s no surprise it’s called that– the view speaks for itself.

After a long day of skiing, we settled into the best tavern: Dinner at Gunbarrel Tavern and Eatery. Our trip-tip sandwiches, salmon, hot chocolate, chicken wings, and delicious hot toddy warmed us up. The service and atmosphere of the tavern is great and we highly recommend checking it out!

The next day, we headed to Tahoe Snowmobiles Tubing Hill!

After walking through all the fun casinos in the village, we made it just in time for snow tubing and snowmobiles.

The wide-open fields of untouched show and trees were majestic.

That night, we had lakefront dining at Brooks’ Bar and Deck at Edgewood Tahoe Resort.

Edgewood is a breathtaking resort by South Lake Tahoe.

The food– french dip sandwiches, hot chocolate, Shirley Temples, burgers, and gourmet brownie desserts and hot toddies– are just a few of the many delicious items on the menu.

If it’s even possible, the view of the lake might beat the food!

Tuesday Night Blues at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe heats up every Tuesday night with free Blues shows, live at Casino Center Stage. Longtime Northern Nevada musician Buddy Emmer showcases local and regional headliner artists as they front Emmer’s smokin’ band– with some of the best blues music.

For those of age, we recommend checking out the Stateliness Brewery & Restaurant or the South Lake Tahoe Brewing Company.

Explore shopping or catch a movie at the Heavenly Village. You can also check out locally owned shops on the Wildwood Makers Market.

Something new we learned about Tahoe:

DRINKING Tahoe Tap: Lake Tahoe’s water is 99% pure. So when you come up to Tahoe, bring a reusable water bottle and skip purchasing single use plastic.
