Plan your trip to Long Beach, California this summer

The economy is changing the way we travel. Smaller cities here in California are becoming travel destinations – some even seeing a 38% increase from last year. Why? Because families are going back to the basics.

That’s why our spotlight segment is so popular – we showcase places that are only a short trip away. This week, we take you to Long Beach – the 5th largest city in California.

Long Beach has the best of both worlds. It’s located only 22 miles south of the bustling city of Los Angeles and sits right on the California coastline. On average, the city of Long Beach experiences 345 days of sunshine each year.

The city is also home to the biggest port on the West Coast and has been named the #1 Container Port in the US for handling the most cargo tonnage.

And if you’re looking to be entertained, the city is full of one-of-a-kind experiences like the haunted Queen Mary, the famous Aquarium of the Pacific, and even the Shoreline Village – offering a variety of shop, boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafés.

Plus, this summer the city is even offering a variety of Summer Lunch Cruises – some of them being free – and their annual Summer Concert Series.
