Racing to End Alzheimers

Auto racing is a fast-paced sport involving strategic timing and a lot of speed. Racing seems to have no connection to the debilitating Alzheimer’s disease; however, race fan Phil Frengs proves that wrong.

The CEO of company Legistics became personally affected by Alzheimer’s when his wife Mimi started loosing cognitive capability, eventually becoming diagnosed with the disease. Through days spent at home, Phil began to think about ways to give back to the community affected by Alzheimer’s.

His love for racing previously allowed him to sponsor his company name on a race car, and he figured he could do the same with his passion for Alzheimer’s awareness.

“I wondered if we could make a difference by putting the names of people that are suffering from Alzheimer’s on a car with their hometown as an identifier and allow people to honor their loved one”

And so the beginning of The Racing to End Alzheimer’s Foundation began. With just four years since the start, the foundation has already put hundreds of names on the race car, and in turn raised thousands of dollars going towards Alzheimer’s programs. Two major beneficiaries that receive the donations are the UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program and the Nantz National Alzheimer’s Center.

Phil’s company covers all the administrative costs for the foundation as well as matching each contribution.
