Audra Stafford goes behind the scenes of the new ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live experience aboard the Disney Dream.
A tale as old as time, since it’s debut in 1991, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, has taken audiences on a sweeping journey to discover the power of transformation through true love and courage. (Learn more about the show’s history from USA Today.)
Now, an all-new broadway-worthy production aboard the Disney Dream’s 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre combines the inspiration from the live-action film with the nostalgia of the animated feature.
Like other shows on Disney ships, the production is a lavish affair. The cruise ship version of Beauty and the Beast incorporates high-definition projections splashed across a music box-like space to create elaborate, panoramic scenes designed to be visible in even the most remote corners of the theater. The costumes are broadway-worthy and the beloved songs have also been transformed to spectacular show-stopping numbers by Broadway writer Sarah Wordsworth. (Learn more about Sara Wordsworth.)
To take a sneak peek inside the show, watch the full segment below or see it air nationwide on California Life with Heather Dawson.
