The Rock Church Delivers 80+ Meals To East County Police Department

East County citizens continue to support each other and provide COVID-19 relief for frontline First Responders.

On May 6th, The Rock Church and local caterer, TOAST, delivered 88 meals to East County Police Department’s first responders. The meals were a part of the Rock Church’s COVID-19 relief effort and response to the tangible needs of the community.

Rock Church partnered with head chef Sam Behnam of TOAST Catering to provide meals to men and women of the East County Police Department. Local restaurants and delivery services partnered with the Rock Church to bring hunger relief to our frontline hospital heroes and first responders So far, 4,249 meals have been delivered to 13 hospitals, SDPD and 911 Call Center throughout San Diego County.

Chef Sam Behnam, prepared healthy, individually boxed meals that do not need refrigeration or heating for the men and women of the East County Police Department working tirelessly to serve their community during this unprecedented time. 

We’re delivering food throughout San Diego county. These people are heroes and they deserve a nice meal. We had to lay off a lot of our staff and this is allowing us to bring in a few people to provide some jobs and a little more security. I love the Rock Church for letting us be a part of this.

The Rock continues to work directly with the hospitals, first responder groups and restaurants to coordinate the delivery of meals in accordance with social distancing and safe food handling practices. Due to the saturated work environment, hospitals and first responder groups have requested at least 30 meals at a time, individually boxed, that ideally can be hand-held and not refrigerated or heated. Individuals are discouraged from dropping off meals per the request of the hospital.
