The Shops at Montebello, managed by Southern California-based Pacific Retail Capital Partners, held a blood drive on April 16, 2020 in partnership with the American Red Cross to promote local opportunities for donation. With people arriving at the Shops of Montebello all day to contribute to the effort, the American Red Cross estimated a total of 165 lives will be positively impacted by these donations.

“As the Mayor of Montebello, I’d like to thank the Shops of Montebello for their partnership with the American Red Cross in delivering a blood drive for the residents of Montebello and surrounding areas… I was able to stop by to donate blood, along with many other residents and saw firsthand how this event was able to bring the community together for a greater cause.”

Montebello Mayor, Salvador Melendez

With no substitute for human blood, those in need rely on the kindness of donations from volunteers. Unfortunately, Coronavirus responses are significantly impacting the U.S. blood supply, while the need for blood donations has not slowed down. The CDC encourages people who are well to continue to donate blood as it is an essential activity.

“Donated blood can be a vital and lifesaving part of patient care,” says Marina Satoafaiga, Marketing and Business Development Manager at The Shops at Montebello. “By hosting a blood drive at The Shops at Montebello, we were able to support our community by providing an open and safe space for those who wanted to donate. I also want to thank the Montebello Rotary Club for providing volunteers and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse bringing lunch.

Part of an effort across multiple Pacific Retail Capital Partners properties, the Shops at Montebello blood drive utilized stringent protocols and scheduled appointments to meet all CDC recommendations and state mandates.
