This week on California Life with Heather Dawson, Steve Whalen, the creator of CatchAPredator.org and a former police officer, speaks to us about the reality of child sexual predators and abuse.
Whalen warns the dangers of child sexual predators are real, and he spent 16 years in law enforcement investigating these cases. He adds that the internet is the main place these predators are found.
In an attempt to thwart child sexual predators, Whalen created CatchAPredator.org with the goals of “trying to tip the scales in the favor of actually getting the people who are actually generating this or are actually responsible for continuing this.”
This free app allows users to log into computers that potentially have the illicit material and go to CatchAPredator.org, where the app then acts like a virus scan with built in safety features.
