Most of us are familiar with Costco and the amazing deals they have to offer, but you may not be familiar with their extensive efforts to “go green.”
In the city of Rancho Cucamonga, those efforts are starting on the roof of their Costco location. With thousands of solar panels, the store is able to drastically reduce the amount of electricity the warehouse uses on a daily basis.
“We project that the solar panels will save us approximately 25-30% in electricity use that we would normally have to get from the electric company and we will be able to pass those savings along to our members,” a Costco representative explained.
Costco is one of the many large corporations that have made the switch to solar energy and reduce their environmental impact. According to a report by the Solar Energy Industries Association, other U.S. companies with large installations of onsite solar panels include Target, Walmart, Apple, Kohl’s, and IKEA.
To learn more about how these solar panels work to conserve energy and help the environment, watch the full segment below or see it air nationwide on California Life with Heather Dawson.
