With spring in full swing, what better way to enjoy the warm weather than by heading outside with a drink? Coast to Coast is joined by Sommelier Theo Rutherford of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, who shares some of the best cocktail recipes for this spring season and some hacks that make entertaining a breeze!
When it comes to entertaining, Rutherford likes to keep things simple. He recommends making easy drinks, such as a Highball with Redemption Rye Whiskey, so that hosts can maximize the amount of time that they have with their guests and still enjoy some delicious cocktails!
Other ways to keep things simple, according to Rutherford, are ultra-trendy “freezer door cocktails”, like his White Negroni featuring Gray Whale Gin!
“They honestly make your life really easy,” explains Rutherford, “because you can batch your drink ahead of time, put it back into the bottle…and when your guests are ready for another drink, you don’t have to get up.”
Looking for a classic cocktail that is sure to impress? Try Rutherford’s favorite, the Boulevardier, a classic bourbon drink with Campari and sweet vermouth. You really can tailor it to your liking and even add a nut liquor like Bib & Tucker’s 6 Year Small Batch Bourbon for an extra twist!
If you want to spice things up, consider making a classic Tommy’s Margarita using Cantera Negra Tequila and adding jalapeño slices for that perfect combination of sweet and spicy!
