The Associated Press reports U.S. Military rescuers are ending their operations in Nepal, after the devastating earthquakes on April 25 and May 12.  More than 8,500 people were killed in the quakes, and thousands more were injured.

Those numbers are only expected to rise, and it will likely take months, or even years, for the impoverished nation to recover from the extensive damage.

Numerous individuals, organizations and businesses have stepped in to help with the relief efforts in Nepal, including the nonprofit humanitarian organization CARE. CARE staff are on the ground providing people with temporary shelter, food, and water purification.
