Flu season is upon us and this can be an especially dangerous time for older adults. As we age, our immune system weakens and, as a result, many older adults are at higher risk of coming down with the flu.
Recent studies show that adults over 65 are up to 30 times more likely to be hospitalized for the flu and other health problems can often aggravate the severity of the flu. With that in mind, it’s important that everyone, especially older adults, get vaccinated every year.
And when going in for a flu shot, it’s important to know that there are different types of flu vaccines available. In addition to vaccines, there are other things all of us can be doing to avoid getting the flu.
To learn more about what you can do each day to prevent the flu, watch the full segment below airing across the globe on California Life with Heather Dawson.
