“Hollywood is the ultimate dream factory, and I need dreams just as much as the next!”

There’s a lot of mystery and intrigue in Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022).

The Dowager countess played by the magnificent Maggie Smith is an heiress once again. She’s received a very expensive inheritance. The question is: why?

To solve the problem, Lord and Lady Grantham (Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern) and a few others travel to the Mediterranean to visit the palatial present for themselves- where they find a few more clues.

Meanwhile, back at the Abbey, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) is dealing with her own troubles. To pay for some repairs, she’s agreed to rent the place out to a film crew.

Downtown Abbey: A New Era is set in 1930. All of our favorite characters are back, plus a few more, including Hugh Dancy as a film director, Lara Haddock and Dominic West as the glamorous film stars.

Actress Lara Haddock arrives as a glamorous film star to the Abbey.

There’s a lot of humor and a few tears in their latest chapter as well as a homage to classic films from a bygone era.

For now, the only way to watch Downton Abbey: A New Era is to visit your local theater. You can find tickets at a theater near you here.
