Green is still the new black, especially in Hollywood Pitt has his Prius Latifah likes her reusable bags, and organic clothing is all the rage and when it comes to going green the best place to start is at home.

Plenty of stars like True Bloods Kristin Bauer, Ed Begley Jr, and longtime LA weatherman Dallas Raines are doing just that. They’ve teamed up with Energy Upgrade California to show you how to do it at a fraction of the cost. Energy Upgrade California is a program that is designed to help homeowners make the home more energy-efficient, more healthy, more comfortable, and help lower their utility bills. The average home in Southern California has enough air leakage to equate to a 3-foot wide window being open in your home 24 hours a day seven days a week. What you’re doing is paying to heat the air in the winter and cool the air in the summer and that’s just going out the window or in the case of the Attic going out through your recessed lighting and going out through the roof.

A participating contractor with Energy Upgrade California will identify your homes and efficiencies and what can be done to mitigate them. Then they work out a job scope for you that basically saves you the most amount of energy for the least amount of cost and move forward with construction. To offset the cost of that construction the program offers rebates and incentives here in Los Angeles County offering up to $8,000 back. Homeowner Heather Buckley and her husband chose to do the basic upgrade, which included attic insulation, air and duct sealing, a pipe wrap and a combustion safety test. On the day of construction their contractor identified additional upgrades at no extra cost thanks to rebates.

This is about figuring out how much energy you’re actually predicted to save and then giving you more money the more your predicted to save. It’s about finding a bigger bang for your buck, contact Energy Upgrade California for rebates and programs that can make your house a home. Bringing you the best of California Life HD.
