Instacart, a North American leader in online groceries, is sharing new data ahead of St. Patrick’s Day for the booziest cities in America, and it may not come as a surprise to you that Los Angeles is ranked as the #5 city in the U.S. for alcohol sales via Instacart.
Instacart dove into its 2018 data to determine which cities were the booziest based on the volume of their alcohol purchases via the service. The top 10 cities that purchase the most alcohol via Instacart in 2018 were:
- Charlotte
- Chicago
- San Francisco
- Miami
- Los Angeles
- Washington D.C.
- Seattle
- Dallas
- Richmond
- Austin
This new data comes with the company’s recent announcement that Instacart is now offering alcohol delivery to a total of 14 states as well as Washington D.C., making Instacart one of the largest online delivery and pickup marketplaces for alcohol in the U.S.
St. Patrick’s Day marks the first big alcoholiday of the year, and Instacart’s national data further proves that this is the case! March is the second most popular month to purchase whiskey, following December. Also, in 2018, beer sales were up 17% WoW the week of St. Patrick’s Day, and whiskey sales were up 29% the same week.
