This goes without saying (though we’ll continue to say it anyway): We should all be wearing face masks. It’s now compulsory in Ireland to wear them in all shops and on public transport to aid the fight against Covid-19. They should also be worn in situations where social distancing is not possible. This is in line with World Health Organization (WHO) advice, which says non-medical face coverings should be worn in public where this is the case. They are also not a substitute for any of the other measures; to combat the virus, we need to be wearing masks, washing our hands and doing social distancing all at once, and all together.
Leading by example, Kate Middleton recently caused a spike in searches for floral face masks.
After stepping out wearing an Amaia London face mask there was a reported a 185 per cent increase in searches for “floral” masks within 24 hours. Yes, for her first royal engagements post-lockdown, the Duchess was photographed wearing the pretty Liberty print and now, well, everyone wants one.
